The customers started liking and strated shopping (switch over from mom & pop store) at these stores which has passion towards their customers.

Organized retailing is more developed and big business in several countries. As per Global Industry Classification Standards the global retail industry is growing by 5%.The organized sector contributes huge share in these countries. For instance, the organized sector has share of 80% + sales in US.
32% of the world retail market space is dominated by United States of America. Europe generates 30%, Asia specific 26%, and rest of the world 12%.

Clothing & Accessories;
Clothing/Apparel segment is the largest sector in the organized retail industry in India. This sector broadly can be classified as Men’s apparel, Ladies apparel, and Kids apparel. The men’s apparel market in India has grown tremendously over the previous years.
Ladies apparel is growing segment where lot of leading men’s apparel brands has entered retailing in this category.
Indian brands rule the kid’s apparel market with most of the department stores retailing their In house brands.
With more and more National and International brands eyeing at Indian market this sector is expected to grow in future.

Food:
The Indian food and grocery market has seen several national and International players in last few years. The organized retail F & G sector is less than 2% of the total market.
The grocery sector is traditionally was ruled by local baniya, shops and later by Govt fare price shops and co operative bazaars.

Footwear:
The footwear market is dominated by the branded segment with over 45% of the total market size. The Indian footwear market is estimated approx of Rs.12000 crores. Lot of brands are in the market retailing through EBO’s and Multi branded retail outlets in Mens , ladies and children’s category.

Jewellery:
This sector is ruled by traditional retailers from centuries. India is one of the biggest markets for Gold. The size of organized retail is about 900 crores. This sector is witnessing transformation from design to way of retailing.

Time wear:
This segment is entertaining lot of International players from recent years. The Indian watch market is estimated at Rs. 3000 crores and organized retail pie is about 45%.

Music/Books:
Recently lot of stores has started the concept of browse, read, listen and buy in India.The self help category wise segregated products in Music and Books are located in malls and high streets. The organized sector in the above category is about 23%.
